Playing within limits at Betoro
Gambling is entertainment with a cost, and it is never a source of income. We state this plainly, and we ask every resident of Denmark who plays with us to set the cost before the first bet. Betoro is for persons aged 18 or over.
1. A budget before the first bet
1.1 The sum
Decide the amount in kroner that you can lose without effect on rent, bills or savings. Treat it as spent when it is deposited.
1.2 The limit on the account
A deposit limit on the account keeps the plan in force when a session goes badly. A lower limit applies at once. A request to raise a limit can take effect no earlier than 24 hours after it is made, as the Danish rules require.
1.3 Questions to answer in advance
| Question | A sound answer |
|---|---|
| How much may I lose this month? | A fixed sum, written down in advance |
| Where does the money come from? | Spare income only |
| What happens when the sum is used? | Play stops until the next period |
| Will I raise the limit after a loss? | No |
1.4 Bonuses and the budget
A bonus belongs to the same budget. Money that comes with a bonus is subject to a turnover requirement and is spent in meeting it. The casino offer of 100 per cent up to DKK 1,000 has a turnover of 10 times and a period of 60 days, and the odds offer has 5 times. Neither is a reason to deposit more than planned, and a resident who feels pressed by a requirement can stop, accept that the bonus lapses, and keep the deposit.
1.5 Reviewing the sum
Review the sum at the start of each month. If the last month’s play cost more than planned, lower the sum for the next one and not the other way round. Write the result down, because a figure that exists only in memory tends to drift upward.
2. Time and breaks
2.1 A boundary for the session
A session without a time boundary tends to grow. Set an alarm, and leave the table or the match when it rings.
2.2 Breaks on the account
We provide breaks. During a break the account cannot be used for play, and the time is better spent reviewing what play has cost.
2.3 When a limit is reached
Reaching a limit is the system working as intended. We advise against opening another payment route to continue. Looking for a way around the limit is itself a warning sign.
2.4 Tools on the phone
Screen-time settings on the phone can limit the browser to a fixed period each day. Such limits work best when they are set on a calm day and not in the middle of a bad session.
3. Warning signs
3.1 Signs in play
- Spending more than planned, or more often than planned.
- Chasing losses with larger bets.
- Feeling restless or irritable when not playing.
3.2 Signs around play
- Borrowing money to play.
- Hiding the amount from family or friends.
- Neglecting work, study or relationships.
3.3 What to do
If two or more signs apply, stop and talk to someone. Gambling can be harmful, and no tool removes the risk altogether.
3.4 Questions to ask yourself
- Would I be comfortable showing my statement to someone close to me?
- Do I play to change my mood, and not for the game itself?
- Has a loss ever made me deposit again within the hour?
Two yes answers are reason enough to take a break.
4. Barriers beyond our account
4.1 ROFUS
ROFUS is the national register for voluntary exclusion from all licensed Danish gambling operators. A registration applies to every operator, we respect it, and it can be made for a chosen period or permanently.
4.2 Devices and banks
- Remove saved card details from the browser and from payment apps.
- Block gambling sites on the phone and the computer with a filter.
- Ask the bank whether gambling transactions can be blocked.
- Keep a separate account for everyday spending.
4.3 The household
Keep gambling money apart from money for housing, food and debts. If a household share of income is going into play, lower the limit and tell the person you share finances with.
4.4 After an exclusion
A registration in ROFUS is not lifted by a request to us, and we respect it for as long as it stands. A resident who has ended an exclusion should return only with a new, lower limit and a written budget.
5. Help and protection of others
5.1 Independent help
StopSpillet offers free, confidential counselling to players and relatives. The helpline number is 70 22 28 25. If gambling causes acute distress, contact a doctor or the emergency number 112.
5.2 Relatives
A relative who suspects a problem should speak openly and without blame, and suggest contact with StopSpillet. Do not lend money to cover gambling losses or take over debts, because both can prolong the problem.
5.3 Minors
Persons under 18 must not gamble. Keep devices and payment methods out of children’s reach and use parental controls.
6. How to reach us about limits
6.1 Our address
We welcome questions about limits and breaks. Write to [email protected] to discuss the tools on the account.
6.2 Confidentiality
We treat what you tell us as confidential and use it only to handle your request. We read every message, and we answer in writing so that you have a record of what was said, and we do not pass your message to anyone outside our team.
6.3 Before each session
- Is the amount within my monthly sum?
- Have I set an alarm for the end of the session?
- Am I playing to be entertained, and not to recover a loss?
- Do I know what to do if I want to stop?
